"Cultural and Islamic values in the works of Abay" national webinar

On April 17, 2020, a national webinar dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev was held at the Department of religious studies and cultural studies within the framework of the project "100 kitap". Students of other universities discussed the work of the great poet on the theme "cultural and Islamic values in the work of Abay", including the philosophical work "Words of edification" which occupies a special place in Kazakh literature and is filled with instruction and education.

The Department of religious studies and cultural studies, 1st year master's student of the specialty "Islamic Studies" Baigazieva B. acquainted the guests with the spiritual and cultural ideas of Abay Kunanbayev.

Then the master's student D. Sakan made a report on "the idea of religion and faith in the edification of Abay". He discussed and commented on the 38-word edification.

The next speaker, a student of "Islamic Studies" Of the Egyptian University of Islamic culture Nur-Mubarak, Zh. Akbergenova explained the ideas of religious beliefs and ethics in the works of Abay in the Kazakh reality, linking them with the verses of the Koran and hadith. And also clarified the ideas expressed in the 13-word edification of Abay, regarding the concept of faith. "Abay does not welcome faith only for a selfish purpose or with a desire to be better for people. He says that the essence of human life is directly related to faith. Currently, the situation with non-traditional movements is causing concern to the public. Religious knowledge of Abay is typical only for a great thinker like Abay, ", - says Zh.Akbergenova. The webinar was continued by a student of the specialty of Islamic studies at the Egyptian University Nur-Mubarak A. Isa. She explained that the true foundations of religion and faith are science, love, and justice, and they are the main laws of the Creator throughout the world, they are important for the development of society, i.e. they cannot be perfect and complete without each other. "We believe that understanding and perception of the phenomenon of religion as an Abay is a requirement of time. Only then can we find a straight path without delusions, " she concluded.

Further, the students of 1 course of specialty "Cultural studies" A. Batzhanova and I.Shari considered works of Abai from the point of view of cultural studies. A. Batzhanova noted that one of the main themes raised in "words of edification" of Abay in a deep philosophical sense – mentality, society, and the idea of the Kazakh people, which at that time completely changed, as well as reasonable criticism of some actions of his people.

Speaking about the work of "Segiz ayak", I. Shari said that Abay was deeply concerned about the social problems of his time, and criticized such actions as alienation, bad behavior, unwillingness, laziness, greed, which became a spiritual scourge of society.

I. Naurzaliev and M. Mukhamedi, 1st-year undergraduates of the specialty "Islamic Studies", made a report" Morality in the words of Abay", and R. Altynbayeva, 1st-year undergraduate of the specialty" Islamic philosophy", made a report "Philosophy of Abay". At the end of the webinar, they exchanged views and thanked all participants of the event dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Abai, which was organized within the framework of the "Ruhani zhangyru" program.
