Today, the newspaper "Egemen Kazakhstan" published a speech by the country's president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with the title "We, as a forward-thinking nation, should only look forward." In the interview, several questions related to the current political, economic and social situation of the country were asked. Among the questions, there are quite a few very sharp questions. This may indicate that Kazakhstan's place in the world, where the geopolitical situation is unstable, and the domestic and foreign policy it has followed, are worrying the people. The president tried to answer all the questions comprehensively and carefully.Of course, the content of each question is analyzed and written openly by experts. As an orientalist, I would like to dwell on what he said in connection with Kazakhstan-China relations. In any case, China is our neighbor. The political and economic changes that have taken place in China in the last 30-40 years have raised the PRC to the level of standing alongside the world giants. Kazakh-Chinese relations have risen from simple neighborly relations to the level of strategic partnership. As our President said in his speech, "Today's China is a highly developed country, including a country that has achieved great success in the field of advanced technology. The whole world recognizes this." There is reason to say that Kazakh-Chinese relations have reached a new level recently. China's initiatives and projects aimed at Central Asian countries are slowly starting. Of course, it is clear that the main weight will be placed on Kazakhstan. Living next door to a country that influences such a world economy and having great interests in us is an advantage in one sense. The problem is to use that privilege in the most effective way in accordance with the interests of our country. Time will tell how effective the visa-free regime between the two countries will be.Nowadays, the world is changing. In such an unprecedented time, both Kazakhstan and China face the historical task of maintaining national security and stability, realizing national development and modernization.
