August 30 - September 16, 2022 within the walls of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the Department of the Far East, teachers of the Department of Japanese Studies S.K. Borankulova and A.M. Nurelov organized and held a summer school for students of Japanese universities. Students of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Waseda University, Sofia University participated in the summer school courses. There were 16 students in total.

The purpose of the school is to acquaint students with the culture, history and traditions of the peoples of the countries of Central Asia. Students were able to get information about the characteristics of each people of the countries of Central Asia. And also excursions around the city of Almaty and Almaty region were organized for students. Students visited the Central Museum in Almaty, Koktobe, Charyn Canyon, Tamgaly Tas. Meetings with students of the Department of the Far East were organized by the students of KazNU named after al-Farabi, who introduced the life of students in Almaty, and Japanese students talked about their life in Japan.
