A VISIT TO KAZNU BY THE OFFICIAL REPRERESENTATIVES OF THE JAPANESE UNIVERSITIES

The delegation from Japan visited Kazakh National University in order to investigate the educational situation here.

 On October 10th, university officials came from Japan to the Almaty office of Tsukuba University in the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Kazakh National University. Prof. Sato Ryuko from Ryukoku University, Prof. Nakamura Koichi from Kyoto University of Advanced Sciences, Tanaka Shigehiro (Assistant Manager), Sumiyoshi Soichi from JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) (Chief Administrative Officer), and Suzuki Michiko (Advisor) visited the office. Representative from Kazakh National University head of Japan Studies division Yerlan Akhapov, senior lecturer Samal Borankulova, and invited professor Ninomiya Takashi. Prof. Sato Ryuko from Ryukoku University is studying the educational situation in Kazakhstan, especially the situation at private universities. Her curiosity was about the general educational situation in Kazakhstan, standards for university establishment, and the decline of private universities in Kazakhstan. Officials of Kyoto University of Advanced Sciences and JASSO asked questions about the educational situation of Kazakh National University, the education of Japanese language courses, the research system, the status of scholarships, the entrance examination status of Kazakhstan, and the status of exchange programs with Japanese universities. The delegation’s opinion was expressed that they would like to cooperate with the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Kazakh National University and that Japanese universities would have great interest upon such opportunities.
