The Department of the Far East met the newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Kim Heung-soo at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

A special lecture from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty was held this year in a very warm atmosphere. After meeting with an important guest by Korean customs like a national dress and a Korean bow, first-year students showed their skills in Korean and conducted a tour of the classrooms of Department of the Far East.

The Consul General delivered a lecture on the topic: “Mutual cooperation between Korea and Kazakhstan.” Reliable information with full comments was presented to the present students studing Korean Studies. Junior students also asked questions, yielding to senior students. The level of proficiency in Korean language students of all courses was noted by the guest, as one of the primary advantages.

The new consul general thanked for the warm reception of Department of the Far East. The bonds of friendship were sealed with promises of mutual cooperation and understanding.
