Department of the Far East in the framework of the Japan Foundation grant of the program "Sakura Network" in 2017 held in the period from 09 to 28 October 2017 vocational guidance work in Kazakh schools.

Students-volunteers of Department of the Far East are equal partners with South Korean medical specialists in the Diagnostic Center of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

October 26, 2017 in Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi, a special lecture was conducted on the topic "Difference between cases in Korean and Russian language" by Professor of Khanyang University Ham Ge-Im. A special lecture was held in the online class, which was opened in 2013 with the support of "Korea Foundation" and "Kukmin Bank".

October 25, 2017 at the Department of the Far East Faculty of Oriental Studies KazNU named after al-Farabi, an extended curatorial hour was devoted to the "Experience of academic mobility in Japan", with the participation of the representative of the Japan Foundation, Ms. Onishi Yumi.

15 best students of KazNU became the owners of scholarships of the POSCO Foundation.

AL-FARABI KAZAKH NATIONAL UNIVERSITY MAKES KOREAN PENINSULA UNITED

The Department of the Far Eastern Studies and the International Center for Korean Studies became participants in the Fourth World Humanities Forum for the Unification of Korea and organized the International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Past and Present of the Koreans of Kazakhstan" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Koreans' residence in Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of development of international scientific and educational relations and improving the quality of professional training of students based on the use of advanced experience of leading foreign specialists, the course of lectures and seminars of Professor Hiroaki Ito from Senshu University (Japan) was held from September 4 to 15, 2017 at the Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

In the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi, an official acquaintance among 1-4 courses was held. Freshmen having become acquainted with the undergraduates became closer to them. The students of the senior courses helped the freshmen to immerse themselves in the student's environment.

The teaching staff of the Department of Far East achieved significant results in the literary study of Korea, as well as literature of the Korean diaspora in the CIS. The following project was approved and funded by the Korean Academy of Korean Studies in 2017.

Japanese language summer school for high school students was organized by Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of the Far East. Students from Almaty city, Almaty region (Uzynagash village), Aktobe city, Shymkent city, Zambyl region (Kordai) participated in this program.
