On January 29, 2018 in the rector's office at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was held ceremony "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan" in Almaty.

In the framework of the “Ainalandy Nyrlandir” and “Salamatty Omir” projects, the Faculty of Oriental Studies held a meeting with Ermakhan Ibraimov, a boxer, an Olympic champion in the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, a director of the republican state-owned enterprise "Olympic Training Center for boxing" and a graduate of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

On January 20, 2018 at the Faculty of Oriental Studies was a long-awaited meeting of alumni, timed to the discussion of the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the people of Kazakhstan on January 10, 2018.

On January 29^th, 2018 in rectorate KazNU named after al-Farabi, students graduate of Department of the Far East were awarded with Korea Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Studies.

I entered the Faculty of Oriental Studies with the purpose of mastering all four Japanese language skills and to study features of the traditional and modern culture of Japan. Therefore in the first year of studying I was really happy to know, that thanks to the cooperation of our university with Japanese universities we have also an opportunity to study abroad in Japan. It's nice to study with the thought that you will fly to the "land of the rising sun" and all your knowledge and skills will help you to make this trip unforgettable.

On 28 January 2018 at the Ramada Hotel under the program "Ainalandy nurlandyr" teachers and students of the Indian Studies Department, Middle East and South Asia Chair, Faculty of Oriental Studies together with the Embassy of India to Kazakhstan, and with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and culture held an international Hindi day.

On January 26, 2018, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of al-Farabi Kazakh National University, PhD Yktiyar Paltore visited the attaché of culture and education of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Almaty, Dr. Hemdan Ibrahim. 

This semester in Department of the Far East would take place a special course of lectures related to the korean diaspora

In Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi, would be held a special course of lectures related to Koreans abroad "Koreans of the CIS", with the support of Overseas Korean Foundation of the Republic of Korea.

Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Center for Contemporary China, Nabizhan Mukhametkhanuly, was invited by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in the framework of the program "inviting foreign experts to read lectures" from November 27, 2017 to December 17. He lectured in China Wuhan University, the Institute of Marxism lasting 36 hours.

On December 14, 2017 at 13:00 o'clock  A.Zh. Nazarova and Zh.A. Abeldayev, the advisors of the TÜRKSOY department of the faculty of Oriental studies of Al-farabi Kazakh National University, on the eve of the Independence Day have conducted a round table with students of 1-4 courses.
