The seminar was attended by more than 20 professors, associate professors and doctoral students of Tokyo University, invited professors from 5 universities in Tokyo, specializing in Korean studies. Within the framework of the visit, the head of Far East department Yem N.B. read a course of lectures on the topic "Korean people in Kazakhstan: history and modernity".

Students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in international Olympiad on Korean studies. It was attended by 60 students

Teachers of the Department of Chinese studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Turgenbai A.A. and Bissenbaeva A.P. at the International Kazakh-Chinese language college met with students and teachers.

During the period from February 2017 to February 2018, students of the 4th year of the department of the Far East studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Kairakhmetov R. and Sagandykova K. successfully completed the internship at Busan University of Foreign Languages ​​(Busan, Republic of Korea). During the stay in the country of the studied language, the students significantly improved the level of the Korean language, as well as collected the necessary materials on the topics of the diploma research.

Open Day called "Culture and Literature of China". The event was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of China in Almaty. Honorary guests of the event Consul General Guo Chin-Jiao and Consul for Culture and Academic Affairs Wang Jiping met Ospanova Bakhytzhamal Kaiyrbekovna, deputy director of the library.

The event "春节 - Spring Holiday" was held at the International Kazakh-Chinese language college with participation of students of the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies.

9.02.2018 at 16:00 - 18:00 the evening was organized by the Oriental Studies Faculty of Al-Farabi KazNU and the Confucius Institute at KazNU with the support of the Consulate General of China in Almaty.

On January 31, 2018 with the participation of the rector of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University Galym Mutanov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Shri Prabhat Kumar, a solemn presentation of the result of the work of four specialists of the Middle East and South Asia Department of Oriental Studies faculty was held.
