On November 8, 2023, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Kazakhstan organized a roundtable discussion for scholars on the topic of "Current Issues in Teaching International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in Kazakhstan." The roundtable occurred in a hybrid format, with in-person participation at the premises of MNU (formerly the Kazakh Humanities and Law University) in Astana and online participation from universities in other cities.

This event is closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education.

He elaborated on the ICRC's areas of work in Kazakhstan, underscoring the importance and necessity of teaching IHL in universities. Additionally, he highlighted the directions of cooperation between the ICRC and universities. The ICRC's regional legal adviser, Andrey Kozik, complemented the discussion with a presentation on teaching IHL and shared valuable resources applicable to the learning process.
