"EU Mini-Model 2017"

October 27, 2017, more than thirty students from International Relations Facultyof Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Kazakh-German University took part in an interactive game "EU Mini-Model 2017", which was held as a part of the European Union’shuman rights media campaign. The event was organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan in partnership with the European Information Center at theAl-Farabi Kazakh National University.

"EU-2017 mini-model" game is an interactive role-playing game, in which students played diplomats representing positions of the EU countries and Kazakhstan on issues of cooperation in the field of protecting fundamental human rights and freedoms (in the areas of social protection, health, education, culture, sports and tourism).

The main goals of the game were development and improvement of students' critical thinking, skills of public speech and negotiation, introduction with methodology and techniques of research, expanding their general outlook, and promotion of fundamental values in the field of human rights.

Juries of the interactive game "EU Mini-Model 2017" were Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan TraianHristea, First Vice-Rector  of Al-Farabi Kazakh National UniversityBurkitbayevMukhambetkali,Dean of theInternational RelationsFacultySagyngali Aydarbaev, Director of the European Information Centre KuralayBaizakova and experts.

All participants of the interactive game were awarded prizes and certificates by the organizers, and the winners took special gifts.

Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan TraianHristeanoted: "The EU is committed to promote and protect human rights. In Kazakhstan, we continue to participate in discussions on human rights in various formats. This student game is one of the platforms for such kind of  discussions. We welcome the excellent knowledge of students about human rights and freedoms, they demonstrated today. "

This event marked the start of European Union’s media campaign in Kazakhstan focused on human rights the hashtag # EU4HumanRights.
