Online student debate on "International Processes Through the Eyes of Young Analysts"

On April 12, 2017 at the Faculty of International Relations of al-Farabi KazNU was held an online student debate on "International Processes Through the Eyes of Young Analysts" with students of the Faculty of International Relations of the L.N. Gumilev ENU.

The organizers of the event were the UN Resource Regional Assistance Center and the Eurasian Studies Center of al-Farabi KazNU.

The purpose of the debate was to discuss the current problems of contemporary international relations and world politics by students in order to stimulate teach young people to consciously, critically perceive, develop their own judgments on the key aspects and the vector of development of international processes.

During the debates the following questions were discussed:

1. What are the prospects for the US role in international relations and world politics under D.Trump?

2. Brexit: implications and implications for the UK and the EU.

3. Syria: scenarios of a peaceful settlement for the near and medium-term prospects.

Both teams argued reasonably and expressed their positions on topical issues of contemporary international relations. Each team showed a high level of preparedness and confidently defended their own judgments.

The presentation, reasoning and correctness of students' speeches were evaluated by Kazakh and foreign experts.

The holding of student debates served as a significant experience for students. In the future, it is planned to hold such an event on a regular basis.
