Meeting with the representatives of the Michigan State University (USA) At the Faculty of International Relations was held

On March 17, at the Department of International Relations was held the meeting with  representatives of the Michigan State University (USA), Norman Graham and Steve Pueppke.

Norman A. Graham is Director of the University’s Center for European and Russian Studies and Professor of International Relations at James Madison College of Public Affairs (Michigan State University).

Steve Pueppke is a Director of Global and Strategic Initiatives in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Special Advisor to the Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies at Michigan State University (USA). 

The meeting was held with the participation of the Dean of the Department  of International Relations, Shakirov K.N., Deputy Dean on Scientific-Innovative Affairs and International Cooperation, International Relations Department Leila Delovarova and with the leading faculty Professor, Director of  the Resource Center of American and Democratic Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kukeev F.T.

The main issue of the meeting was the discussing of the development of join diploma education within the undergraduate and graduate programs. Also were discussed the issues about the conduction of joint Summer schools and on-line activities on sustainable development.

During the meeting the sides discussed the issues of carriage of the videoconference “Central Asia: Sustainable Development and Youth” on April 7 within the annual international forum of scientists "Farabi readings". During the videoconference with the participation of other partners (Scranton University (USA), the Organization "American Councils" (USA), Thomas University (Canada), Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan), the main emphasis has been decided to make on the issues of improving education as a factor of sustainable development. In addition, within the framework of readings were planned joint holding (conferences and seminars) with the participation of the US Consulate General.

As a summary of the meeting it was decided to enhance the existing cooperation in the development of the program double-diploma education through the exchange of information and further planning of joint activities between Michigan State University and the Department of International Relations of KazNU.
