Expected learning outcomes

  1. To demonstrate the prestige of geographical methods in environmental measurements, environmental monitoring and cartography Geosystem for solving scientific and industrial needs of sciences and the community;
  2. To create a complex process of scientific research and trends in the development of personal activities for the production of scientific knowledge in the field of geographical research in a historically changing socio-cultural context;
  3. To evaluate the prestigious properties of innovative sources of information necessary for geographical research dynamics and forecast of the geosystem and the development of recommendations for the restoration and conservation of the ecosystem of the geosystem to solve geographical problems;
  4. Analyze the selected methods of geographical research for processing, analysis and synthesis of geographical information: cartographic, aerospace, complex geographical, geographical zoning and forecasting methods and for their use in scientific and industrial processes;
  5. To offer modern computer programs for solving research and production and technological tasks of professional activity;
  6. To develop a program of resource conservation, environmental protection and monitoring of the geosystem at the local, regional and national levels and to evaluate the systems of development of indicators and implementation of the organization aimed at ensuring competitiveness in the specialty;
  7. Conduct scientific and technical expertise of new methods of analysis and processing of satellite images and geographical information;
  8. Manage geographical projects for the development and implementation of the program to solve environmental and economic problems of resource conservation at the local, regional and national levels;
  9. Create a project on the basics of the terms of reference in the field of Geosystem modeling for the development of scientific and educational plans for specialized activities in higher education;

10.  Generate new ideas and directions for the introduction and use of modern geographical research methods in intersectoral areas to deepen interdisciplinary ties with various scientific and industrial organizations;

11.  Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge into the research process on the problems of innovative Geosystem modeling for the implementation of complex scientific and production programs and economic development projects;

12.  Make decisions when participating in complex emergency situations and convince opponents of the correctness of the methods of elimination of the causes;

Academic activities

The academic activities of the EP are carried out:

-        within the framework of existing regulatory documents and guidelines in the field of higher education in the field of geographical sciences, as a result of the implementation of regulations governing the educational and methodological process at the university;

-        generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

-        current and long-term planning of educational and methodological work of the university;

-        coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (UMKD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

-        monitoring the provision of the educational process with educational and methodological materials, documenting the results;

-        development of teaching materials; development and implementation of a working curriculum

Scientific activity

To implement the EP "8М05206- Natural-technogenic risks " at the Faculty and the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics there is an Educational and Laboratory Cartographic Center (ULCC), which includes:

-        laboratory of geoinformation mapping;

-        remote sensing laboratory;

-        laboratory of geodesy and cartography;

-        Center for Geoinformatics and Young Scientists;

-        center for receiving and archiving operational meteorological information;

-        geocamera.

Scientific directions of research in the specialty "7M05210- Natural and technogenic risks" are:

-        regional and local problems of rational use of natural resources and environmental protection;

-        hazardous natural and man-made phenomena and processes, their forecast and mapping;

-        recreational assessment and forecasting of areas of development of natural and man-made risks;

-        study of water-air basins in Kazakhstan;

-        geo-informational cartographic services for various areas of the economy; - glaciers and permafrost zone of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

-        natural and technogenic seismic hazardous regions of Kazakhstan;

-        mudflows and snow avalanches of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

-        zones of fluvial risks (floods and waterlogging, waterlogging) in Kazakhstan; - regions of desertification in Kazakhstan;

-        degradation of land resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan

-        mountainous and lowland regions of Kazakhstan;

-        - urban and rural areas of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

International activities

The Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics for academic mobility of doctoral students has cooperation agreements with the University of Salzburg, the Center for Geoinformatics of the Dortmund Technical University (Dortmund, Germany), the University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), the Michigan Technological University, the Western Hungarian University, the University of Abuda (Hungary). International relations are planned to be carried out in the form of participation in conferences, exchange of experience in scientific and pedagogical activities with international colleagues, as well as professional development of staff of the department in those Universities with which international cooperation agreements have been concluded.
