On March 14-15, 2023, the 3rd Eracam International Conference on Korean Studies was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on the topic “Research of Korean Studies in the Altai Belt”.

This conference, organized within the framework of the project of the University of Erciyes, Turkey, the study of Korean studies abroad, was organized at the Azerbaijan University of Foreign Languages. The conference was opened by the speech of the rector of the university, academician Kamal Abdullah and continued with a thankful speech by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan, Mr. Lee In Yong. At the same time, Professor Göksel Turkezü from Erciyes University spoke about the history of the establishment of the Research Center for Korean Studies at the university and gave information about the project.

         Professors of Korean studies from the universities of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, who took part in the conference, made a great contribution to expanding the horizons of Korean studies abroad with their reports. On behalf of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, Professor Lee Byung Jo, acting. associate professor Abagan A.B. and Belyalova A.E., teachers Sermukhametova B.B., Begaliyeva M.B., Sailaukenova A.E.

         At the conference, the faculty of KazNU presented the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Department of the Far East, spoke about the direction of Korean studies in Kazakhstan. In addition, the following our participants made presentations: acting. Associate Professor Abagan A.B. “Comparative study of phraseology with national and cultural characteristics in the Kazakh-Korean translation studies”, senior lecturer Sermukhametova B.B. “XX century Stories of writers of the Korean diaspora in the CIS in the 70s and 90s”, acting associate professor Belyalova A.E. “Sustainability perspectives of the Anthropocene through Global citizenship education: Focusing on the South Korea case”. Thus, all participants of the conference got acquainted with the new areas of Korean studies of Al-Farabi KazNU and were awarded certificates.
