The largest bus stations in the city of Almaty, Sayakhat and Sayran, were built during the Soviet era.

If the “Sayakhat” bus station was built in 1963, then the Sairan bus station has served the population since 1976.

The “Sayran” bus station began its work on the international transportation in 1983. Every day, 260 buses leave from here and arrive to it, which serve 2500-3000 passengers. The “Sayran” bus station is a bus centre, accessible to all cities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, near and far abroad.

At the bus station there are 51 routes, including 4 international, 27 inter-regional and 20 suburban routes.

In the building of the bus station there are a mother and child room, a luggage room (working around the clock), a hotel, a cafe, a train ticket office, a currency exchange office, a computer club, dry cleaning, a laundry room and shower rooms.
