Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that January, 12 of this year marked with the 110^th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding statesman and public figure, three times Hero of Socialist Labor Dinmukhamed Kunayev. This year taking into account the wishes of the people, the President of the country, K.K. Tokayev renamed the city on the shore of the Kapshagai after D. Kunaev, making it the regional center.

"I think that within the framework of the anniversary event, the role and place of Dinmukhammed Akhmetovich in the history of Kazakhstan will be objectively assessed. He created conditions for the development of many industrial enterprises and large farms in each region, built 43 cities nationwide and became in fact their "Chief Architect". In addition, Dinmukhamed Akhmetovich directly supervised the construction of KazGUgrad. The work of Dinmukhammad Akhmetovich on the creation of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which is an educational institution that annually contributes to the training of highly qualified specialists for our country and to the development of the Republic, is widely promoted. The people will never forget an outstanding figure, who devoted his whole life to serving his nation. The noble image of D. Kunayev will always be honored and remembered in our country," the rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev announced.

In turn, the president of the Kunayev Foundation, Eldar Askarovich Kunayev thanked on behalf of family of Dinmukhammad Kunayev for holding the conference "Historical Figures – Memory of the Country" and noted that he is a graduate of KazNU. "Once Dinmukhammad Akhmetovich together with the university management, began the construction of a new KazGUgrad, and today it is a beautiful, real student city. Currently the name of Dinmukhamed Akhmetovich has risen very high. Events and major conferences dedicated to the 110^th anniversary of Dimash Akhmetovich Kunayev have been held in Almaty, Shymkent, Taldykorgan, Turkestan and throughout Kazakhstan. In total, more than three thousand events were organized this year. This has never happened before. Today's conference is actually the final event," he stated in his speech.

Eldar Askarovich Kunaev awarded the jubilee order of the international "Kunaev Foundation" to the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurinov. In addition, the anniversary medals of the Dinmukhamed Kunayev Foundation were awarded to the following individuals: Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan KazNU, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Bereket Karibayev, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Bolat Komekov, Director of the Research Center "Iran-Turan" Islam Zhemeney, Honorary academician of the National Academy of Sciences Kaidar Aldazhumanov.
