On the 24 of October, 2020, teachers of the Department of Language and General Education of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education and the "Club of Russian Literature Lovers" held an online event on the topic: "What a beauty, these fairy tales are!" During the lesson, foreign listeners got into the world of fairy tales, the world of magic and kindness. Taking into account the initial level of students' training, the fairy tale "Teremok" was chosen by the teacher. This is a kind instructive fairy tale with repetitions, which is easy to remember and which gives a lot of positive emotions.

A fairy tale always has a certain message. Foreign students correctly perceived the content and the main idea of this tale. "Teremok" is an illustration of the Russian saying “the more the merrier." Reading this tale aroused interest in the study of oral folk art.

Acquaintance with children's folk tales will help a foreign listener who wants to penetrate the atmosphere of Russian culture, to understand the peculiarities of the Russian mentality and morality.

On October 23, 2020, the Music club for educational work "Көңілді әндер" together with the curators of the Department of language and General education of foreigners of the faculty of pre-University education held an open event "Online excursion to the House-Museum of A.Baitursynov" for foreign students studying the Kazakh language. During the event, foreign citizens learned about Akhmet Baitursynov, revered as "Teacher of the Nation", Kazakh public and state figure, member of the "Alash" party, educator, linguist, literary critic, turkologist, poet and translator. Showing the audience video materials, the teachers focused on the biographical facts of the brilliant writer, teacher, linguist. Answering the questions of students studying the Kazakh language, the teachers focused the audience's attention on the fact that it was Ahmet Baitursynov who developed the basics of the Kazakh language and scientific terminology for determining the Kazakh grammar.

Teachers of Russian as a foreign language at the Department of language and General education of foreigners in their classes try not only to give academic knowledge, but also to draw students ' attention to interesting facts of the language.

On October 20, 2020, an educational event "Entertaining grammar" for A2 level students was held in this vein. Foreign students studying Russian got acquainted with new vocabulary in a playful way, illustrated with the appropriate video sequence; they learned to use conversational constructions, and guessed puzzles... In other words, they were doing things that teachers don't have enough time for in class. Events of this kind are designed to promote the success of learning a foreign language.

Curators-advisors of the Department of language and General education of foreigners of the faculty of pre-University education, working with students studying the Kazakh language, held an open educational event "famous University of Kazakhstan - KazNU" on October 19, 2020. Like all the others, the event was held in an online format. Students were introduced to the main milestones in the development of the country's leading University from its foundation to the present day. The teachers illustrated their interesting story by showing visual material: a video about the University, a virtual tour of Kazgugrad. Students took part in the dialogue with great interest, asking their questions about the University.

        The teachers expressed hope that in the future foreign citizens will want to continue their studies at the al-Farabi Kazakh national University.

On October 17, 2020, the «Globus» intercultural communication club of the Department of language and General education training of foreigners held an educational event "ABC of health. Caution: coronavirus!" for foreign students of advanced level of study in the framework of the Project "cult of a healthy body". The purpose of the event is to inform foreign students about the features of the manifestation of this disease, ways of transmission, ways to fight infection and measures to prevent infection. During the event, the teachers once again reminded the audience about the ways of infection with the virus, the signs of the disease and the possibilities of preventing the disease. Special attention was paid to the need for strict compliance with prevention measures. Multimedia tools were used during the online event. Teachers' messages were accompanied by a video clip and presentation. In conclusion, the students received a handout on the coronavirus.

At the Department of Language and general education of foreigners, country clubs for educational work regularly hold educational events. On October 17, 2020, teachers and managers of the Center "history and culture of the region" together with the club "Sayakhat" introduced primary-level students studying the Kazakh language to the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, by holding the event "Nur-Sultan – the capital of independent Kazakhstan". The online format of the event allowed the audience to see a video, as well as a presentation about the history and present day of the main city of the country. As a rule, foreign students are very interested in everything related to the formation of the capital of Kazakhstan. During the event, teachers answered numerous questions from foreign citizens.

On October 16, 2020, the Center for educational work "history and culture of the region", the local history club "Sayakhat" of the Department of language and General education of foreigners, successfully working with foreign students for more than 20 years, held their regular meeting "Cultural traditions of my country" with advanced level students studying the Kazakh language. The event was held in the format of an online round table, where students talked about their countries on this topic and got acquainted with the cultural traditions of the peoples living on the territory of Kazakhstan with great interest. As long-term experience shows, such events introduce students to the country of the language being studied, thereby making the learning process even more successful. Students will also learn about countries whose representatives study in the one study group.

On October 14, 2020, the music club for educational work "Көңілді әндер" of the Department of language and General education of foreigners of the faculty of pre-University education held an open event "song creativity of Abay" for foreign students studying the Kazakh language. During the educational event, foreign citizens learned about the musical heritage of the great Kazakh educator Abay Kunanbayev, listened to samples of his works.

On October 12, 2020, teachers of the Department of language and General education of foreigners of the faculty of pre-University education held a career-oriented educational event "Welcome to KazNU!". During the event, teachers told foreign students about the leading University in Kazakhstan, as well as answered their questions.

October 8, 2020 club " Let's go to the movies!» the Department of language and General education of foreigners of the faculty of pre-University education together with curators and advisors held an educational event in an online format within the project "cult of a healthy body" "Health is the basis of our future success" in groups of foreign students studying Russian. During the event, students watched a film promoting a healthy lifestyle.
