During the event a brief information about the formation of Astana as a capital was presented to foreign students.In 1961, Akmolinsk was renamed in Tselinograd. In 1992, as Kazakhstan became an independent republic, it was decided to return the historical name of the city - Akmola. The history of Astana is the history of the formation of a new Kazakhstan. Today, Astana is a completely different city.On the 10 th of December in 1997 Astana became the capital of Kazakhstan. The international representation of Astana as a new capital was held on June 10, 1998.On July 6 the day of Astana is celebratedOn March 23, 2019, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed a document about renaming the capital from Astana to Nur-Sultan
