Online meeting dedicated to the "Alumni Day of KazNU"
Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, al-Farabi KazNU held an online meeting dedicated to the "Alumni Day of KazNU", dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi.
By tradition, at the end of May, the alma mater gathers all of its graduates. And this year is no exception - during the pandemic, the meeting was held in a new format. At the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University an annual graduate day celebrated since 2011. The purpose of this event is the formation of the corporate culture of graduates of different years; assistance in training specialists of the new formation and the establishment of mutually beneficial relations between the university and graduates.
The program was attended by the faculty of the department, graduates of different years - 1982, 1985, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020, specialties "Meteorology" and "Hydrology", as well as students, only 35 people.
At the opening of the event, the rector of al-Farabi KazNU, academician Galymkair Mutanovich Mutanov and Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the Alumni Association of al-Farabi KazNU, 1981 graduate of the Law Faculty Kairat Abdrazakuly Mami.
Mentoring has always been and remains one of the priorities of the department. Experienced mentors from production give lectures to future specialists, supervise scientific work, give reviews of final works, participate in the work of certification commissions, and help in the development of educational programs. The meeting participants supported the idea proposed by Kairat Abdrazakovich Mami in the project “Mentoring: opportunities for everyone”.
Svetlana Evgenievna Polyakova, head of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, noted that this project will help graduates share their experience in combining theory and practice, formulate goals for further self-development and self-improvement, will provide an opportunity to gain confidence in the future and will allow you to grow professionally. All participants in the meeting supported the project and are confident in its further development.
Currently, the strategic objective of the university is to enter the list of 200 best higher education institutions in the world. A video was shown “KazNU: University, looking to the future”, which presents the main activities, goals and achievements of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology is one of the links of the university, where specialists of meteorologists and hydrologists of different levels of education are trained. Further, the head of the department Polyakova Svetlana Evgenievna made a presentation on the achievements of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
The largest enclosed body of water on the globe is the Caspian Sea, on the coastline of which there are five states, including Kazakhstan. The drainage basin of the Caspian Sea is of great importance for the economy of the republic. The State Hydrometeorological Research Office of the Caspian Sea, headed by Ivkina Natalya Ivanovna, graduated in 1982, operates in the RSE Kazhydromet, a congratulatory video is watched.
The provision of safe and high-quality air navigation services for air traffic in accordance with international standards is impossible without the participation of meteorologists. A word of congratulation was given to an ICAO certified course developer, head of the theoretical training and program development department of the vocational training center of the RSA “Kazaeronavigation” Natalya Nikolaevna Khvan, a graduate of 1995.
Received another congratulatory speech, Aliya Aspandiyarovna Nurbatsina, deputy director of the branch of the RSE "Kazhydromet" in Almaty, sincerely congratulated everyone on Graduation Day and thanked the teachers of the department for their invaluable work and knowledge.
During the online meeting, graduates and current teachers of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology spoke: Almas Shabdanov, Director of the Akmola Branch of the RSE “Kazhydromet”, former Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs at the Department of Geography and Nature Management, Aidar Rakhmetovich Zhumalipov, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, PhD, Associate Professor Kauazov Azamat Maratovich.
On behalf of all the graduates of 1985, Dolgikh Svetlana Anatolyevna, the head of the Department of Climate Research of the Research Center of the RSE "Kazhydromet" spoke. She shared her memories and impressions of students, sincerely wished everyone a happy future and the department of further development. Graduates of 2020 passed the words of gratitude to the teachers of the department through a video appeal, and graduates of 2010 shared a video clip about student life.
Concluding the meeting, Svetlana Evgenievna Polyakova thanked everyone for their active participation, expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation in the field of professional training, and wished graduates of 2020 success in completing their studies and their further formation in the profession.
At the online meeting, all participants sincerely congratulated each other, wished everyone happiness, prosperity, prosperity and concluded the event with the song “Armandastar”.
