About the scientific internship of doctoral candidate Berdenova B. at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I2CNER), Japan

PhD student of the Department of Mechanics Berdenov BA passed an internship for two months in summer 2017 through the program of KazNU for Graduate Student’s Foreign Training. She passed an internship in the laboratory of her foreign supervisor Professor B.B. Saha from June 10 to August 15 at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I2CNER) at Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan. During the practice she conducted experiments, took part in seminars conducted by the laboratory, made presentations on the work progress.

Theme of doctoral thesis of given student is «Adsorption Characterization of Parent and Composite Activated Carbons for Ultra-high Efficiency Energy Storage and Adsorption Cooling Systems». The research has a practical significance, because the ways of optimization of adsorption cooling systems, to enhance the working pair (refrigerant/adsorbent) in order to increase the performance coefficient of ASOs will be considered, and the possible application of these materials in highly efficient energy storage will be investigated. As adsorbents, in particular, parent and composite activated carbons will be considered.

Foreign supervisor, prof. Bidyut Baran Saha is one of the leading specialists in the world on adsorption processes and the use of adsorption processes in practice, has more than 150 publications on the topic.

The local supervisor Prof. Aidarkhan Kaltayev has extensive experience in organizing and conducting scientific research and is an Academician of the National Academy of Engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Acquaintance and further cooperation with the supervisor's laboratory is a key point for each doctoral candidate for the successful defense of a doctoral degree and development as a researcher in general.
