On February 18, 2020 the Al-Farabi Center, Department of Religious and Cultural Studies of Al-Farabi KazNU together with the State Historical, Cultural, Literary and Memorial Museum-reserve of Abai “Zhidebay-Borili” held a Republican scientific and practical round table on the theme “Al-Farabi-Abai: the problem of continuity spirituality”, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great thinker, philosopher al-Farabi and the 175th anniversary of the great poet Abai, within the project “100 books”.

Main directions of the round table:

1. Events dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the great thinker, philosopher al-Farabi and the 175th anniversary of the great poet Abai;
2. Al-Farabi - Abai: the problem of spiritual continuity;
3. The study of the Farabian Studies and Abai study in the Soviet period;
4. The development of the farabian studies and Abai study in the period of independence;

Religious scholars took part in the round table, as well as scientists, experts, public figures, scientific workers, doctoral students and undergraduates.

The round table was opened with a congratulatory speech by the Director of the al-Farabi Center, Associate Professor Bekzhan Meirbayev and was continued with a report on “The Heritage of al-Farabi in a new format”. Head of Department of Religious and Cultural Studies, Doctor of Sciece (Philosophy), Professor Ainura Kurmanalieva made presentation on topic “The Viability of the al-Farabi’s Heritage”. Secretary of State Historical, Cultural, Literary and Memorial Museum-reserve of Abai “Zhidebay-Borili” Raushan Yelekenova on the theme “World of Abai”, where she familiarized with the life of the Museum and its research Foundation printed materials.

The round table also discussed methodological and practical issues of science and education related to the rich cultural life of great people.

Resear Fellow from Abai Research Institute, Associate Professor Nurlykhan. Aitova spoke on “The Farabi Studies, Abai studies in the Soviet era"; “The Farabi Studies, Abai studies in the years of independence”; and there also were considered “The Main Directions and Actual Problems of Farabi and Abai studies in secondary and higher education.” The leading researcher of the Institute of Literature and Art, associate Professor of Toreali Kydyr continued his speech on the topic “Abai and Islamic culture”.

Additionally following scholars have spoken to various topics: Doctor of Philosophy, Assistant Professor of the International University of Information Technologies Aizhan Doskozhanova «Activity in the light of social philosophy of al-Farabi”; Candidate of science (Philosophy), Associate Professor of the International University of Information Technologies Asyl Tuleubekov with topic «Perfection of the Original in the metaphysics of al-Farabi”; PhD candidate Saltanat Mukataeva on «Comparative analysis of the study of Abay's cultural heritage in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods”.

The event was presented by the Al-Farabi's Scientific Library’s exposition of “al-Farabi”, an exhibition of works of Shakarim Kudaiberdiev «Kazakh ainasy”, «Enlik Kebek”, the exhibition «Abai Alemi», an exhibition of books and manuscripts «Abai Alemi” which presented materials about the life and creativity of Abai, collected in the State Historical, Cultural, Literary and Memorial Museum-reserve of Abai “Zhidebay-Borili”. At the end of the event, participants were given letters of thanks.

During the event, expositions of the Al-Farabi's Scientific Library’s exposition of “al-Farabi”, an exhibition of Abai's life collected in the funds of the State Historical, Cultural, Literary and Memorial Museum-reserve of Abai “Zhidebay-Borili”, memoirs of Arkham Kakitaevich, Niyazbek Aldazharov, Akhat Shakarimuly, which formed the basis of research by scientists who studied his work, were also presented the manuscripts of Shakarim Kudaiberdiev «Kazakh ainasy”, «Enlik Kebek”, translated by Akhat Shakarimov, including «Abai Alemi», an exhibition of books and manuscripts, where printed editions of the Abai Museum were presented.

The event was attended by scientists parabody, experts, researchers, doctoral students, undergraduates and the media.
