International online conference "New Islamist currents in the example of the USA and Kazakhstan"

December 9, 2016 in the main building of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi on G-Global platform held an International online conference "New Islamist currents in the example of the USA and Kazakhstan" in cooperation with the University of Michigan, USA.

The purpose of the event – informal discussion of religious beliefs practices affecting the political process in the United States and Kazakhstan, which are characterized by an intensification of, involvement in the religious life of the population, the creation of new religious movements, affecting the process of reproduction of political decisions.

The welcoming speech for participants and guests of the conference was delivered by the doctor of philosophy, professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Baitenova Nagima Zh. with the report "New Islamist currents in the example of Kazakhstan".

PhD, professor of Islamic studies of the Department of Middle East Studies at the University of Michigan – Alexander Knysh acted with the report "New Islamist currents in the example of the USA".

At the end of the conference the parties discussed a number of topical issues related to the spread of Islamist movements and what kind of role Islam takes in the modern world.
