KazNU discussed new approaches to deradicalization of society
KazNU hosted an international seminar on «Manifestations of destructive religious movements and new approaches to deradicalization».
The international seminar organized by the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science was attended by: Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor B. Meirbayev, Head of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies A. Kurmanalieva, a group of scientists, doctoral and undergraduates of the Department, speakers from Turkey: Mehmet Ihsan Oguz, Mustafa Aykach, Hilmi Demir, Yunus Ozturk, Director of the Academy for Counteraction religious extremism at Nur-Mubarak University Timur Nusuphanuly and representatives of the faculty of the University.
The purpose of the event was to discuss the problem of destructive religious movements in modern society and to comprehend new approaches to deradicalization.
The international seminar was opened by the dean of the faculty, Associate Professor Bekzhan Meirbayev. In his speech, he noted: "Yesterday, the II meeting of the National Kurultai was held with the participation of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. At the collegial meeting devoted to the discussion of important issues, they talked about the need for new ideas and decisive steps to strengthen the unity of the country and national peace. To do this, it is necessary to develop a culture of political responsibility."
During the seminar, the director of the Academy for Countering Religious Extremism at Nur-Mubarak University, theologian Timur Nusuphanuly shared his opinion on this issue. In his opinion, religious ideology performs various functions in the life of society, including determining the attitude of our youth to modern life, religion. The Speaker noted that it is necessary to protect our youth from the temptation of religious extremism, to instill morality in them.
Turkish colleagues – Mustafa Haykach, Director of the Ihsan Kastamonu Oguz Research Center, Dr. Yunus Ozturk, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Theology at Hitit University - made detailed reports and shared valuable opinions on preserving unity and solidarity between peoples, national values, adherence to the principles of kinship, brotherhood, avoiding situations that threaten the security of the country.
During the event, the book «Tagdyr» by the Chairman of the Oguz Foundation Muhammad Ihsan Mehmet Ihsan Oguz was presented. The book presented to the attention of readers is an important work explaining the essence of the problems of will, death, fate. It highlights various views, studies, reflections, and disputes of Islamic scholars regarding fate.
