KASYMOV KULZHABAI ABDIKALYKOVICH

worked as the dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics from 1972 to 1974, and from 1991 to 1994

Kassymov Kulzhabay Abdykalikovich was born on September 25, 1935 in the village of Talapty, Koksu district, Taldykorgan (now Almaty) region.

  • Education

In 1957 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Kazakh State University named after Kirov with a degree in mathematics.

In 1959 he entered the graduate school of the Department of Computational Mathematics, Lomonosov Moscow State University.

In 1963 he successfully defended his dissertation at the Academic Council of the University.

  • Work experience

1963-1968 he worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor, head of the department of Kazakh State University named after S.M.Kirov.

1968-1972 he was the head of the laboratory at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.

In 1972 he defended his doctoral dissertation.

1972-1975 Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics, Kazakh State University, 1975-1980. Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Training of University Teachers, Head of the Department of Applied Analysis.

In 1980 he was appointed the leader of pedagogical education of the Republic - rector of the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute named after Abai.

1988-2005 He studied at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. From 2005 to the last days of his life he was a professor at the Department of Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics, which he created.

  • State, government and other rewards

The International Biographical Center (Cambridge, England) called Kulzhabay Abdykalikovich "a man of 1900-2000 centuries" for his outstanding achievements in mathematics.

In 2003, K.A. Kassymov was elected an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2004, by the decision of the Koksu district administration of Almaty region, he was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Koksu district."

For outstanding contribution to the development of science in Kazakhstan and the training of highly qualified personnel, Academician K.A. Kassymov was awarded the Order of Honor in 2004 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2009 he was awarded the Grand Gold Medal "For outstanding contribution to the development of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University."

  • General work

In the field of differential equations Kassymov founded a large school of mathematics and supervised the scientific work of a large team of mathematicians.

Under his leadership, 3 doctoral and about 50 candidate dissertations were defended.
