Republican Subject Olympiad in International Law 2024

April 27, 2024 at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi KazNU hosted the XVI Republican Subject Olympiad in International Law 2024. The students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the educational program (specialty) - International Law took part in the Olympiad. 

The main objectives of the Olympiad are:

- stimulation of educational-cognitive and educational-research activity of students;

- disclosure of the professional and personal potential of students, their self-consciousness, creative abilities, creation of conditions for self-realization and self-affirmation;

- education of students' civic position;

- selection and support of the most talented and gifted students.

  The solemn event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, L. F. Delovarova, who wished success to the participants of the Olympiad and noted the importance of the contribution of youth to the success of our country in the field of education and science.

The competition committee consisted of respected scientists and practitioners in the field of International Law, among the invitees is PhD, Consultant to the Government of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan) E.B. Akhmetov, Master of International Law, senior lawyer at KPMG K.S. Talgatova, Ph.D.

According to the Regulations on the Republican Subject Olympiad, the competition consisted of 3 rounds. The first round was held in the form of a test in the Kazakh language, consisting of questions in the discipline “International Public Law”. The second round was held in the form of a test in Russian, consisting of questions in the discipline “Private International Law”. The third round took place in the form of oral answers to questions in the discipline "International Public Law" in English.

In general, the “Olympiad in International Law brought together within the walls of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University the strongest and brightest 17 students from 8 Kazakhstani universities: 3 students from Turan-Astana University, 3 students from Abylay Khan Kazakh National University of International Relations and Languages, 2 students from Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov, 3 students from ENU, 3 students from Kunaev University, 1 student from Turan University, 1 student from Narxoz University, 1 student from NJSC KIMEP University.

The participants showed their professional and personal potential, showed creative abilities, creativity and originality, and also demonstrated the ability to analyze, think logically, and proficiency in Kazakh, Russian and English languages.

Based on the results of the Republican Subject Olympiad in “International Law”, Elmira Kabilzhaparova, a student at Turan-Astana University, was awarded a first degree diploma. Turan University student Tursynbai Bekzat Serikuly was awarded a II degree diploma. Karaganda Buketov University student Adil Garipullaev was awarded a third degree diploma.
