International Conference "Mini Model UN - New Silk Road"

"Model UN - New Silk Road" is a large-scale international project for students and high school students, which is aimed at attracting the attention of young people to the global problems of our time, forming a vision of a holistic picture of the world, developing research skills, the ability to overcome conflicts through intercultural communication and dialog building.

The NSWMUN Organizing Committee with the support of the Faculty of International Relations of KazNU provided a platform for 60 delegates to celebrate such globally significant events as the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 30th anniversary of the "Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women" (adopted on December 20, 1993); as well as the "16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence". As well as an opportunity to contribute their creative ideas to address global issues such as Agenda 2030 and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Digitalization and its impact on human rights, and Ensuring Gender Equality.

The online conference brought together students and schoolchildren from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as international experts, representatives of the United Nations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Almaty. At the opening ceremony with a welcoming speech were made by: Representative of the UN Department of Global Communications - Vlastimil Samek, Deputy Counselor for Press, Culture and Education of the U.S. Consulate General - Chad Kinner, Head of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty - Bakhytzhan Bulegenov, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University - Leila Delovarova, representative of the regional initiative Spotlight - Konstantin Osipov, Associate Protection Officer of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees - Naing Lee. The moderator was Madina Kadarbayeva, Head of the Office of the Organizing Committee of the UN Model New Silk Road.
