Within the framework of the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 85th anniversary of the Department of mechanics, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the opening ceremony of the auditorium named after doctor of technical sciences, professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences Shahbaz Yershin. The event was attended by domestic and foreign scientists, teachers and students.

At the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU, an exhibition of the achievements of research work at the Department of Mechanics, as well as scientific developments in the field of mechanics, was held.

After the grand opening of the auditorium, a scientific conference was held dedicated to the conscious life of the academician.

Within the framework of the conference, the results of the Republican Student Olympiad in the specialty "Mechanics" were summed up, which took place from November 24 to 26, 2021, and the students of the "Mechanics" department were awarded scholarships named after Sh.A. Ershin. Sponsors received letters of thanks.The complex of events was attended by the leadership of the university, scientists from foreign (USA, Poland, Russia, Kyrgyzstan) and Kazakhstani universities, representatives of scientific centers, faculty, students, undergraduates and doctoral students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The conference ended with the premiere of a documentary about the life of academician Shahbaz Ershin.
