Meeting with a Runologist-Turkologist
A seminar on the subject of “Secrets of runic writings” by the Associate Professor of the Faculty of Journalism of KazNU arranged by members of Turksoy department was held on the 10th of November. The students and master students majoring in Turkology demonstrated a strong interest in this field. Amankos Mektep started his seminar with the origins of runic writing followed by the speech on the history of Turkic balbal stones found in some parts of Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The lecturer spoke about their impact on the historical memory of the nation and their presence providing his speech with interesting data.
The seminar took few hours and proved to be a great success. Upon the completion of the speech, the participants had a chance to ask questions and have discussions in specific fields.
At the end of the seminar an Appreciation Letter was handed over to Prof. Amankos Mektep by the Head of Turksoy department Kydyr Toreali.
