Chair history

Department of Solid State Physics and Nonlinear Physics was formed in 2011 through the merger of two departments: Solid State Physics and Materials Science and nonlinear physics and electronics.Department of Solid State Physics and Materials was founded in 1967 by Academician MI Korsun. From 1974 to 2008 the department was headed by a disciple of M.I.Korsunskogo Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Sh.Sh. Sarsembinov.Department of nonlinear physics and electronics was organized in 2000. The founder and first head of the department was Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Zhanabayev Z.ZH.V 2011 with regard to the restructuring of the Department of nonlinear physics has teamed up with the Department of Solid State Physics and Materials Science, and became known as the Department of solid state physics and nonlinear physics.

Department of Solid State Physics and Materials was founded in 1967 by Academician MI Korsun. Korsunskii was a disciple of K. Roentgen and AF Ioffe. His research interests were very broad and multifaceted: X-ray physics, molecular physics, nuclear physics, electron optics and solid state physics.
From 1974 to 2008 the department was headed by a follower M.I.Korsunskogo National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Sh Sarsembinov. He founded in Kazakhstan scientific school on physics of non-crystalline semiconductors. In this area of solid state physics, he created a new research direction: management of electronic properties of semiconductors with non-crystalline structure, and together with his students developed the physical foundations of non-crystalline modification of the electronic properties of semiconductors.
From 2008 to 2010. department was headed by Associate Professor Aliyev Bahodir Azimdzhonovich
Department of nonlinear physics and electronics was organized in 2000. The founder and first head of the department was Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Z. J. Zhanabayev. His main research interests are physics of turbulence, information theory and synergetics

At the department is to train highly qualified professionals to meet the modern requirements in the fields of materials science and nanotechnology, radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications, physics and astronomy. Students are provided not only by the amount of knowledge, but also a set of core competencies, allows the mobile to adapt to the rapidly changing socio-economic conditions and to apply their knowledge in creating new competitive products and services. In the educational process involved highly qualified teachers who have extensive scientific, educational and industrial activity. Among them are doctors and candidates of sciences in physical and technical fields, professors, associate professors, PhD, masters. By teaching students involved leading scientists of our country and abroad.
