Today, a solemn meeting was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, timed to coincide with the celebration of the Day of Science Workers. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU named after Al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuymebayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurinov, university faculty and young scientists.

During the meeting, the head of the university congratulated scientists and all workers in the scientific field on their professional holiday.

“Congratulations on the Day of Science Workers! Science is the driving force of society, the basis for the development of all industries. In the formation of New Kazakhstan, we must pay special attention to the development of science. We are currently facing major challenges. Therefore, it is important not to rest on our laurels, it is necessary to work together and unitedly in this direction. KazNU, named after Al-Farabi, in practice implements the model of a research university, based on the results of fundamental and applied research. The main vector for the development of the scientific activity of our university is the preservation of fundamental areas of research,” Zhanseit Tuymebayev said.

Murat Zhurinov, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who specially arrived at the solemn meeting, emphasized that science is always a collective work.

“Kazakh National University has been and is the pride of the country. Everyone knows that graduates of KazNU work in the Government, in state bodies and perform their duties at a professional level. The main goal of leading universities is not only to provide quality education to students, but also to prepare future scientists at a high level. A student who graduates from a university must graduate not only as an educated specialist in his profession, but also as a scientist. Today, science cannot develop through the labor and efforts of one scientist. To do this, we must work together. Science has long ceased to be the lot of single scientists, it is a collective work,” said Murat Zhurinovich.

During the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the leadership of Al-Farabi KazNU and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Also, 16 winners of the contest "The Best Young Scientist of Al-Farabi KazNU" were awarded. Zhanseit Tuymebaev and Murat Zhurinov presented the winners with diplomas, cash rewards and memorable gifts.

At the end of the solemn meeting, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Academician and President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurinovich was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor of Al-Farabi KazNU".

In addition, Murat Zhurinov was awarded the Birlik public gold medal for a significant contribution to strengthening national unity, maintaining peace and harmony and developing the spiritual culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
