The technology of sulphur-containing preparations under the programme "Development and approbation of technology for production of new sulphur-containing nanocomposites and preparations" was developed under the leadership of Professor M.M. Burkitbayev, Doctor of Chemical Sciences.

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a leadership lecture by Nurlan Bayuzakovich Ermekbaev, a statesman of the Republic of Kazakhstan, candidate of political sciences, diplomat, Lieutenant General, on "Kazakhstan's policy in the field of military security".

At the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University the First International Forum of Rectors of Central Asia took place, which was attended by the Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, Chairman of the Board - Rector of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuimebaev, as well as ministers and rectors of Central Asia. 

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with a delegation headed by Rector of Tajik National University Kobiljon Khushvakht. The parties discussed issues of further promising cooperation.

At the Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University a scientific and methodological conference within the traditional "Shaymerdenov readings", dedicated to the work of a public figure, a prominent symbolist, one of the founders of public relations in Kazakhstan, a writer and publicist Yerbol Shaymerdenov.

Al-Farabi of KazNU  held an International scientific-practical conference "XIII Bagizbaev readings" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor M.M. Bagizbaeva.

In the framework of the first official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Turkey there was a meeting with President Tayyip Erdogan, which resulted in an agreement to bring the Kazakh-Turkish relations to the level of an expanded strategic partnership. A number of important intergovernmental agreements were signed in various spheres, including science and education. 

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Judiciary and Law Enforcement Agencies of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan to discuss judicial reforms and ways to improve legal education in the country. The representatives of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation of the Senate of the RK, many of whom are graduates of the University, visited the Centre of situational management, the Higher School of Economics and Business, and the Faculty of Law and met with the faculty and students.

Recently to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Day of Defender of the Fatherland the military department of NAO "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University " opened an auditorium named after Hero of the Soviet Union, Halyk Kakharmana, the first Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Army General Sagadat Kozhakhmetovich Nurmagambetov.
