SDG - QUALITY EDUCATION

In accordance with the Educational program in the specialty “Petrochemistry” and taking into account the main goals for sustainable development adopted in 2015 by the UN General Assembly, professors of the department L.R. Sassykova, Z.H. Tashmukhambetova and Y.A. Aubakirov read a course of lectures in Kazakh, English and Russian languages “Actual Ecological Aspects of Petrochemical Manufactures” for Master’s degree students. The lecturers of the course for this discipline published a textbook in English “L.R. Sassykova, Y.A. Aubakirov, Z.K. Tashmukhambetova. Actual ecological aspects of petrochemical manufactures. ISBN 978-601-04-4096-8. Almaty, Qazaq University”, in separate chapters of which the essence and ways of solving Goals No3, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 15 of the UN Sustainable Development are described. Classes in the discipline include such forms of training as a discussion platform, a quiz, game methods; as part of the educational process, topics on ensuring a healthy lifestyle (UN Goal No. 3), problems of climate change on the planet (UN Goal No. 13); air pollution, soil, water resources, their purification and rational use (UN Goals No. 6, 13, 15); synthesis of inexpensive modern energy sources (UN Goal No. 7) are comprehensively discussed. It should be noted that the authors of the manual have many years of experience in participating in scientific projects that correspond to the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN (UN Goals No. 6, 7, 15). They have reported scientific results at international conferences and published articles in publications indexed in Scopus, Web of Science databases. Students of the department not only master the course of lectures and take part in discussions, but also work within the framework of scientific projects on topics relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (UN Goals No6, 7, 12, 13, 15) under the guidance of professors and teachers of the department.

SDG - QUALITY EDUCATION

On 14.04.2023, the Department of "Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemicals" held an online conference with the aim of "Career guidance work" with some regions of Kazakhstan (Kyzylorda, Abai region, Zhambyl region, Almaty). The event was attended by several school leaders and students who got acquainted with the university, faculty and departments, received answers to topical questions.

SDG - QUALITY EDUCATION

Ecological research, which began with the teachings of Vernadsky, has never canceled its significance. The concept of sustainable development was defined at the UN Summit in 2015 with 17 goals. In order to explain the concept of sustainable development to young people, it is necessary to discuss and study world-class problems. In order to achieve this goal in solving an environmental problem, students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University are offered a textbook in English. The team of authors Sassykova L.R., Aubakirov, Y.A., Tashmukhambetova Zh.Kh. considers the most relevant environmental aspects of petrochemical industries.

SDG - PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

For many years, there has been a connection between the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Izmir Institute of Technology. At the initiative of the head of the department, Professor E. A. Aubakirov, as a result of many years of scientific communication between scientists of the two educational institutions, a bilateral memorandum has been signed today. On the basis of this Memorandum, undergraduates of the educational program "7M07101 - Petrochemistry" and doctoral students of the educational program "8D07101 - Petrochemistry" will undergo scientific internships.

SDG - PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

On the eve of the faculty of chemistry and chemical technology held a meeting with the leadership of KazNU and the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology with the French Attaché for Cooperation in Education in Kazakhstan Xavier Le Torrivellek. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for our students to study at top schools and leading universities in France such as Lyon 1 and Paris Sacley, as well as the involvement of students in global projects such as Total Energy. There are scholarship programs, and the Embassy of France supports any relevant project, also the possibility of establishing closer partnerships with French universities and involving them in grant funding projects was discussed. Also the question of joint and two-diploma education, in this direction actively works the chair of physical chemistry, catalysis and petrochemistry on the joint educational program “Petrochemistry” - 7M017101 with Lyon 1 Claude Bernard University and University of Lorraine on the educational program “Oil and gas business”. There were some questions on signing the contract to which the attache gave the answers for all questions.

SDG - QUALITY EDUCATION

One of the main goals of education is the preservation and transfer of a prosperous planet to future generations. To this end, it is necessary to pay attention to «The concept of sustainable development», which is especially relevant at the international level with the support of the United Nations. In 2015, 17 sustainable Development Goals were developed at the UN summit. Explaining «The concept of sustainable development» to young people is one of the urgent measures. Familiarization of students of the Department of "Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry" of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the environmental goal of The concept of sustainable development» became possible after a full acquaintance with the technology of chemical production. An event was held to make sure of the damage caused by chemical production from incorrectly selected technologies to the environment, which ultimately made it possible to understand that the focus on environmental issues of sustainable development is directly related to their future professions.
