Participation of leading lecturers of the department in explaining the essence and ways of solving problems in the field of sustainable development of the United Nations

In accordance with the Educational program in the specialty “Petrochemistry” and taking into account the main goals for sustainable development adopted in 2015 by the UN General Assembly, professors of the department L.R. Sassykova, Z.H. Tashmukhambetova and Y.A. Aubakirov read a course of lectures in Kazakh, English and Russian languages “Actual Ecological Aspects of Petrochemical Manufactures” for Master’s degree students. The lecturers of the course for this discipline published a textbook in English “L.R. Sassykova, Y.A. Aubakirov, Z.K. Tashmukhambetova. Actual ecological aspects of petrochemical manufactures. ISBN 978-601-04-4096-8. Almaty, Qazaq University”, in separate chapters of which the essence and ways of solving Goals No3, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 15 of the UN Sustainable Development are described. Classes in the discipline include such forms of training as a discussion platform, a quiz, game methods; as part of the educational process, topics on ensuring a healthy lifestyle (UN Goal No. 3), problems of climate change on the planet (UN Goal No. 13); air pollution, soil, water resources, their purification and rational use (UN Goals No. 6, 13, 15); synthesis of inexpensive modern energy sources (UN Goal No. 7) are comprehensively discussed. It should be noted that the authors of the manual have many years of experience in participating in scientific projects that correspond to the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN (UN Goals No. 6, 7, 15). They have reported scientific results at international conferences and published articles in publications indexed in Scopus, Web of Science databases. Students of the department not only master the course of lectures and take part in discussions, but also work within the framework of scientific projects on topics relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (UN Goals No6, 7, 12, 13, 15) under the guidance of professors and teachers of the department.
