The sporting event is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the outstanding poet and public figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Suleimenov.
The organizers were KazNU named after al-Farabi, VC "Burevestnik-Almaty" with the support of the Akimat and the Volleyball Federation of Almaty. On May 4-6, 2021, the Almaty Region Judo Championship U23 was held in the city of Taldykorgan. At these competitions, the 1st year student of the Faculty of Medicine of the FCS Department, Koybakar Darkhan, won the champion title in the weight category of 73 kg.
On May 4, 2021, on the basis of the sports complex of KazNU named after al-Farabi, the XI Summer Universiade among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan started. Kaipanov Nurkozha, a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, Department of the FCC, won a gold medal in the Asian Championship in freestyle wrestling, in the weight category up to 74 kg, and thus became a two-time champion of Asia.
The Asian Championship was held in the city of Almaty from April 13-18, 2021.
