On September 3, 2021, the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with Altair Children's Books Academy , held a seminar "About us - obliquely" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan Independence.

The participants of the online event were PhD students, master students, bachelor students and teachers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China.

Shaimerdenova Nursulu Zhamalbekovna , the moderator and the leading speaker, Doctor of Philology, Professor of Al-Farabi KazNU spoke about the importance of the humanities at the present stage of human development, their role in the formation of a spiritual person endowed with eternal moral values and memory. The topic of her speech and the seminar was the words from the poem by I. Brodsky, which became the title of "About us - obliquely" (M., 1997) the book-memoirs by R. Frumkina, the famous linguist. The speaker's report was devoted to understanding the issues of continuity in science, the contribution of Kazakh philologists to the formation of the cultural society paradigm and the further development of philological science. A great educational mission is carried out by the public projects "Epoch and Personality", "Voice from the Archives", Altair Children's Books Academy, etc.


This topic was continued by the speeches of the seminar coordinators: masters of philology, teachers, PhD students Ismailova Sholpan Aimurzaevna and Kuznetsova Irina Nikolaevna. They told about their Teachers in science, famous Kazakh philologists who laid the foundation of scientific knowledge - Gainullina Nadezhda Ivanovna, Tabakova Zinaida Petrovna.

Amanzholova Gemma Bolatovna , the head of the Altair children's book academy, associate professor of Al-Farabi KazNU, spoke about the activities of the Altair Children's Book Academy within the framework of the Epoch and Personality project, as well as about the page opened on the Academy website for young philologists and book lovers, for which experts tell about the outstanding scientists-philologists of Kazakhstan and the world. In particular, she mentioned the book: "Understandable incomprehensibility”, written by Professor O. A. Sultanyayev, her teacher. This book  explains the origin of various toponyms in Kazakhstan.


The seminar was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, it touched upon one of the important issues - the formation of a national philological school over a thirty-year period of sovereign Kazakhstan and intergenerational transmission in science, in which every teacher who cares about the work of his Teacher can become a participant.
