On November 16-17, 2022, the city of Aktau hosted an international scientific conference on the topic "Mangistau - the embouchure of history: issues of preservation and protection of historical and cultural monuments", organized by the akimat of culture, archives and documentation of the Mangistau region, the Mangistau State Historical and Cultural Reserve.

This conference was held as part of the Action Plan for 2020-2030 for the implementation of the Concept of the cultural policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The conference was devoted to topical issues of scientific study, conservation, use, popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the Aral-Caspian region. The conference was attended by domestic and foreign (Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan) scientists and specialists. Among them, the director of the research center "Written monuments and spiritual heritage", associate professor of the department of Turksoy Zubaida Shadkam made a report on the topic "The image of Sultan Upi in the Chagatai texts." The conference was also attended by a specialist of the research center "Written monuments and spiritual heritage" O. Tuyakbaev on the topic "Issues of research and documentation of epigraphic monuments of Kazakhstan."
