Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, Associate Professor Madina Mansurova and doctoral student of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Zhienbaev Meiran took part in the VI International Journalistic Forum on the topic "MODEL OF RESEARCH UNIVERSITY: SCIENCE AND INNOVATION IN DIGITAL MEDIA". At the plenary session of the forum, a presentation was made on the topic "Creating an open data portal of KazNU to monitor the state of water resources in the Republic of Kazakhstan."

The purpose of the work is as follows:
1.Develop methods for automatically extracting geospatial objects and their associated non-spatial attributes from heterogeneous open data sources, namely from web text tables.

2. Create an integrated representation of various data sets based on an ontology to assess the quality of water resources in the basins of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

3. Create knowledge graphs that will allow you to track water bodies, the pollution classes of which have changed in a certain time interval.


Object of study: Ile-Balkhash basin.

To visualize data on water withdrawals, rivers and water pollution index, the following steps were performed:

●Collection of data on socio-economic indicators from open sources, such as the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan (stat.gov), 8 water intake basins and rivers, surface water pollution index (kazhydromet.kz);

●Data conversion from unstructured and semi-structured data to structured format (CSV);

●Placing Open Data Kazakhstan data on the GitHub platform, which collects, cleans, structures and stores data from different formats;

●Graphs for better understanding and analysis of data.
