Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the birth of the statesman and public figure, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, former rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, academician Omirbek Zholdasbekov.
In honor of this significant date, teachers and staff of the university, contemporaries, students, descendants of Omirbek Aryslanovich laid flowers at the monument of the statesman and public figure.

The participants paid tribute to the memory of the figure who made a great contribution to the development of the university, as well as education and science of the country.

Umirbek Zholdasbekov was the rector of KazNU for 16 years, from 1970 to 1986. During his leadership, the university became one of the best universities and became recognizable in the world community. New scientific directions and specialties are associated with his name, in which students began to be trained. Laboratories, departments, research centers, as well as the National Academy of Engineering of Kazakhstan have been established under his leadership. With his direct participation, a unique campus was founded and built – KazGUgrad, which has become a symbol of student life in Kazakhstan. Umirbek Aryslanovich's scientific discoveries and works have been widely recognized not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the world scientific community. Thanks to his hard work, he has educated a whole galaxy of mechanical scientists.
