On December 12, 2023, an international forum was held among students of Sofia University named after Kliment Orchidski (Bulgaria), Canakkale University (Turkey) and Moscow City Pedagogical University and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This forum is being held for the second time. This year the theme of the forum was “Things that surprised me in Japan.” Students prepared a presentation on the topic of what surprised them in Japan, in Japanese culture.

3rd year students of the Far East Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University talked about the culture of politeness, cleanliness in Japan and food culture. After each presentation, students asked questions and discussed the topic.

After the main session, teachers and participants shared their opinions and discussed the topic of the forum. Teachers shared their impressions of each performance.

International forums have a great impact on students studying Japanese. They were able to meet students from other countries who were also studying Japan and shared their experiences.

Students expressed the opinion that the Japanese language is not only a link between Japan and their countries, but also that Japanese can be used to communicate with other countries, and that they felt the opportunities that the Japanese language gives them.
