November 23, 2023 at the Department of the Far East, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi KazNU., with the support of the Education Center of the Republic of Korea in Almaty and under the supervision of professor Lee Byong Jo  held a Korean language knowledge competition as part of the Korean Studies Week. 12 freshmen took part in the competition, the competition was held with great enthusiasm and interest. The Korean language questions were tested in TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) format. Since participants have only been in the Department for 3 months and are taking the test, the Korean language questions may be a little difficult for first-year participants. However, it can be said that this is a meaningful competition because first-year participants can find out their Korean language level in advance in the middle of the semester. Participants who took prizes in the competition were awarded a cash prize and gifts.
