The teacher of the Department of the Far East, Faculty of Oriental Studies A.E. Belyalova held a meeting with 11th-grade students of the Bilim-Innovation Lyceum in Kokshetau. “Bilim-Innovation” Lyceum is a network of schools led by the International Public Fund "KATEV" in Kazakhstan where students are educated in four languages (Kazakh, Russian, Turkish and English) that have become prize-winners of the International Intellectual Olympiads.

The purpose of the meeting was the vocational guidance of students and clarification of the benefits of studying at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, particularly at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. A.E. Belyalova gave a lecture as a presentation on the activities of the department of the Far East, it was presented a short video from Korean language Department students’ life and brochures were distributed with full information to future applicants. During the conversation, students received the information about the departments and specialties of the faculty, advice on ways of training, the organization of study, including the teaching staff, rules of admission and document of submission to KazNU, the prospects of university graduates employment, and the scope of knowledge acquired at the university, etc.

The first half of the year for 11th-grade students is an important period for choosing a profession. And at that point, the professional orientation work should serve as a high intensity by bringing together both school teachers and vocational education institutions. Students who make the right choice and receive knowledge with pleasure in one area or another are an important strategic resource for the state and society, guaranteeing the stability and development of Kazakhstan.
