March 28-30, 2019 Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Far East Department of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University L.V.Safronova took part in the Workshop “Russophone Literatures”

On the 2^nd of May, a training led by Oikawa Koji was held at the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Department of the Far East, the Japanese Studies Department.

The issue of inter-Korean relations and their unification of the Korean Peninsula does disinterested the students of the Department of the Far East, who study the Korean language.

Professors of the Department of Far Eastern Studies met with the President of the Republic of Korea. The state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in to Kazakhstan on April 21-23 is a part of his tour of Central Asian countries.

On April 27, the Bishkek University of Humanities held the 23rd Central Asian Speech Contest in Japanese. The competition was attended by 15 contestants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The tradition of the annual international competition of oratory on the basis of the Kazakh National University. Al-Farabi was founded in 2011. At the beginning of April 2018-2019 school year, the 9th oratory competition was held with the participation of the Universities of Hanyang and Namseul, Republic of Korea.

The group of masters degree students of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, consisting of 26 people, successfully completed a scientific internship at the University of Oxford, which is a top university according to world rankings.

At the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the traditional open day event was held.

As part of career guidance, teachers of the Far East Department held an event for schoolchildren "Mysterious Japan."

As invited professors, Chun Byong-Soon and Myong Soon-ok in the Department of Far East Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, visited for special lectures to the undergraduate, master, and doctorate students in the School of Humanity of Eastern Finland University (EFU, Finland, March 22); in the Faculty of Philology of University of Complutense Madrid (UCM, Spain, March 25) from 20-28 March, 2019.
