In the laboratory of the Department of Informatics, Nurdaulet Tasmurzaev, together with his scientific team, developed a program that instantly determines the presence of a mask in a person. The innovative development will allow video surveillance cameras to identify violators of the quarantine regime, the correspondent of Almaty.tv reports.

This is what a scientific laboratory looks like, where university students and researchers develop projects. Among them is an apparatus that allows you to determine the level of air pollution in a certain area. But, perhaps, the most relevant development can rightfully be called a system that can detect the absence of a medical mask on the face.

"Correct wearing of masks, observance of social distance. Because of violation of all these rules, residents are fined. To avoid all this, we have developed this application", - said a student of KazNU. al-Farabi Aksultan Mukhambet.

With the help of the program, the camera can determine whether a person is wearing a mask or not. As young scientists note, the system is still being finalized and they are going to provide the entire university with it next year.

It should be added that the students worked on this development for two months. The guys admit that the authorship belongs to Indian scientists. Their system is already successfully operating in some countries of the world. But the students of KazNU managed to improve the existing model.

"The same system in the cameras is also in our airport. But their program is European, and we have a pure Kazakhstani product. The advantage of our development is that it can measure the distance of people," said a student of KazNU. al-Farabi Nurdaulet Tasmurzaev.

Young IT specialists plan to test this program at the university, and if everything goes well, then commercialize it by implementing the system in all public places of the city.
