On March 19, 2024, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology hosted the annual International Round Table dedicated to Water Day and Meteorologist's Day "Modern Problems of Hydrometeorology: Challenges and Prospects."

The purpose of the International Round Table is to discuss current problems and challenges faced by specialists in the field of hydrometeorology, as well as to find promising solutions and innovative approaches to improving monitoring, forecasting and management of hydrometeorological processes. Within the framework of the event, there was an exchange of experience between scientists, practitioners, representatives of public and private structures to develop joint strategies that contribute to more effective management of water resources and counter the negative consequences of climate change.

The event was attended by representatives of scientific and academic institutions, state bodies, non-governmental organizations, young scientists from foreign countries such as Switzerland, Japan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Scientists reported at the following sessions: "Water scarcity and management strategies in Central Asia" and "Regional climate trends and their impact on water resources." As a result of the round table, topical issues of hydrometeorology were discussed and the main conclusions were drawn.
