XCSS "CLIMATE CAN'T WAIT" PROJECT INTRODUCED

On September 25, 2023, at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University a meeting was held with the President of XCSS - CROSS COUNTRY SKIING SAND (Paris, France) Estelle Payen. A campus tour was organized for Estelle Payen. The guest visited the Center for Process Innovation, the cluster of engineering and high technology, the Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences.

Director of the Remote Sensing Center of KazNU Zulpykharov K.B. and the lecturer of the Department of Geography, Land Management and Cadastre - Kalieva D.M. met Estelle Payen and gave a tour of the Engineering and High Technologies Cluster and the Remote Sensing Center.

Next, a leadership lecture by Estelle Payen took place in the meeting room of the Academic Council of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (15th floor, Rectorate) on the topic: “Promoting the values of sports and cooperation to preserve the living heritage of Kazakhstan, key elements of sustainability and community adaptation to climate: using the example of the XCSS project "Climate can't wait." In her opening speech, Member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovation Activities of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zh. Aitzhanova noted that the project is part of a global UN initiative aimed at achieving SDG 3 - Good health and well-being, SDG 5 - Gender equality, SDG 6 - Clean water and sanitation, SDG13 - Climate change, SDG 15 - Conservation of terrestrial ecosystems. The project was presented at a panel session of the Astana International Forum (AIF), which was held in June 2023, dedicated to the problem of water shortage.

After the completion of the leadership lecture at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, a business meeting was held with the Dean of the Faculty Aktymbaeva A.S., Heads of Departments of the Faculty Tokbergenova A.A., Plokhikh R.V., Nysanbaeva A.S., Asylbekova A.A. and Bazarbaeva T.A. During the meeting, potential opportunities for cooperation and project implementation were discussed.
