The International Scientific and Practical Conference X Zhandayev Readings "Geographical Science of Kazakhstan in the Modern World" on December 11-12, 2020 was held remotely in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The conference was attended by: Director of the Institute of Geography and Water Security, Academician A.R. Medeu, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, Professor V.G. Salnikov, heads of departments of the faculty, wife of the scientist M. Zhandayev, professor N.B. Akhmatullina, Professor of Michigan Technological University (USA) - E. Levin, participants from the CIS countries, near and far abroad, representatives of universities and research institutes of Kazakhstan, as well as teaching staff of the department, students, undergraduates and doctoral students.
The main issues were considered in 6 directions:
• Modern problems of state and transboundary specially protected natural areas (SPNA);
• Global and regional problems of nature management;
• Ecological tourism in Kazakhstan - principles of development, placement, study;
• Digitalization of Kazakhstan - content, problems, achievements and prospects;
• Content and role of cartographic monitoring in solving the problem of sustainable development of geosystems;
• The current state of geodetic networks on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the problems of their modernization.
