Internship at the Chinese Academy of Sciences

Master and PhD students in Hydrology of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology were trained in one of the leading scientific centres of China at the Institute of Aerospace Research (AIR CAS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing from November 23 to December 2 in 2019.

The 10-day internship program included lectures from leading scientists of the institute, master classes from PhD students who perform work on the processing of remote sensing data.

During the internship, data on the institute and the results of the basic researches were presented. Various centres have also been visited, such as the International Centre for Space Technology for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Bureau for Integrated Disaster Risk Research Programs (IRDRIPO) and the CAS-TWAS Centre for Excellence in Space Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction (SDIM). The program also included a visit to Miyun station, where the station staff familiarized themselves with the Quick Look platform, which makes it possible to monitor changes that occur on the ground in real time, control the direction of satellites and receive data through antennas, a control centre, etc.

The general director of AIR CAS awarded Training Programme certificates to all of the participants of the winter course.
