On June 4, 2021, a public lecture was held by Tursynkul Amankeldievna Bazarbayeva Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the UNESCO Department of Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic “The Geoecology of the Geological Systems of the River Basins of the Southeast Balkhash Region: Changes and Opportunities” dedicated to the World Environment Day. 

Within the framework of the "Ainalandy nұlandyr" program, in order to get more familiar with agrometeorological modeling in Kazakhstan and the process of studying at a foreign university, an online meeting was held with a PhD student of the University of Reading (Great Britain) Suleimenova Saule for students of 2, 3 and 4 courses of the specialty Meteorology (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University).

Mukanova Bella Almasovna, 2nd year student of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the specialty in Ecology, took 1st place at the National Student Olympiad 2021 "Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia" in the section "Integrated Water Resources Management (SDG 6)", which was organized by the Central Asian Youth Association "CAY4W" together with the Kazakh-German University.

At the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, an online Round table was held on the topic: "World Day for Occupational Safety and Health", timed to coincide with the World Day of Occupational Safety, organized by 1st year Master Students on the specialty "Life Safety and Environmental Protection" and Head Kozhakhan A.K. from UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Development.

As part of the implementation of the project "Smart Generation" of the Akimat of Almaty city on April 14, 2021, the Youth Alliance of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences held a master class on the topic "Actual problems and teaching methods in the process of geographical education." The event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and aimed at undergraduates and postgraduates of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

As part of the international conference "Farabi Alemi", on April 7, 2021, a round table was organized on the topic "Assessment of changes in runoff characteristics and transformation of the hydrographic network in Almaty using GIS technologies".

Nomadic Kazakhs from ancient times predicted the weather based on various natural phenomena and established their economy according to these forecasts. By signs, they made their forecasts and gave names to some manifestations of the weather. Kazakhs watched the movement of heavenly bodies. Constant movement in the endless steppes taught them to orient themselves well in the cardinal points, to find their way by the stars, to accurately determine the location of tracts, wells, pastures.
