An unforgettable meeting at the faculty of Oriental Studies

There was a meeting of teachers, professors and students with faculty’s graduates Azamat Berdybai and Kairat Lama Sharif, who are ambassadors of Kazakhstan in Arab states on 17 September at the faculty of Oriental Studies in the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi. The meeting was opened with the greeting speech of the faculty’s dean professor Aldabek Nurzhamal Abdrazakovna. She presented the guests to the students and the teachers of the faculty. Azamat Berolybai is an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Kazakhstan in Qatar. He graduated from the Arabian department of KazNU in 1987. He was teaching Arabic in his own chair before he became a diplomat. Kairat Lama Sharif is an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He finished Arabian department of own university in 1990.

The manager of the faculty’s Arabian chair professor Nadirova Gulnar Elmuratovna said that she had nostalgia about those times when so bright persons like Kairat, Azamat and other guys were studying in the Arabian department. Most of them are working diplomats abroad now. Also she said that generation was purposeful with enthusiasm and wide way of thinking. Most of them became scientists diplomats and just good people and she was happy at that meeting like the parents are happy of coming back their children at home.

The group where the guests-ambassadors were studying was the best “Kirov’s” group at the university in that time. There were 25 students in the group and two of them became ambassadors, eight of them became doctors and candidates of science. Associate professor of the University named after Ablay Khan Dina Esenzhan, who was studying with guests in one group came to the meeting and told students about interesting moments of their student’s life about interesting moments of their student’s life: Saturday cleanings, agricultural works that unites them, about principle of the “Kirov’s” group: “One for all and all for one”. She congratulated her own university and faculty with jubilee and presented a bunch of flowers to her favorite teacher Gulnar Ermuratovna in sign of deep gratitude. Associate professor of Arabian chair Akhmetbekova Akbota Karibaevna also was studying in that legendary “Kirov’s” group. In her town she told students about conditions which they were studying in: there wasn’t enough of books (text-books), the Xerox was a rarity and luxury, they didn’t know what was it internet, they hadn’t native speaking teachers of Arabian, language practice was rarity too. In spite of it students of her group were thinking about serving to their country, they loved Arabic very much, were hand-working. But now the situation is rather changed: today there are all conditions to receive an education of the high quality: audio and video rooms, Internet, students and teachers are going to Arab states, different seminars are held and etch. Addressing to the students she said “Today’s guests are the real example for you, they are worthy to imitation, so learn, work, go ahead and you will become worthy citizens of our country and your university will be proud of you!” Azamat and Kairat expressed a deep gratitude to leadership of the university for giving that opportunity to be at the Forum of Association KazNu’s graduates and it was a big honor for them to be here as honorary guests. “We never forget that we are KazNU’s graduates and we always try to help you, not let you down” – with such optimistic note they finished their speeches and offered to pass the dialog with students. The students asked the ambassadors the questions that were exciting them, and guests replayed them in detail.

At that meeting the guests with the initiative of faculty’s leadership were delivering student’s tickets to 1 course students who finished school with “The Altyn Belgi”. The dean of the faculty explained the aim of this ceremony in this way: “This year all state grants to our specialists were won by the possessions of “Altyn Belgi”. May be today’s 1 course students are the future ambassadors of our country in the East. We want it so our ambassadors are delivering student’s tickets to the best students of 1 course who gathered high points”. After competition of this ceremony there was a little concert organized by students. The students were reading the poems, singing in languages of the East, dancing national dances. The guests liked this concert much, especially ambassadors. They were surprised much because that Arabian department where they were studying became a big and unique faculty, where the East languages, culture, history, philosophy are being learned.

The dean of the faculty Aldabek finished that meeting; she thanked all the guests for their arrival to the faculty to meet the students. Then she presented memorable souvenirs to the guests. The participants of the meeting took a photo together for a long memory.
