From September 14 to December 26, doctoral students of the Department of Geography, Land Management and Cadastre underwent research practice at the Institute of Geography and Water Security. During this practice, doctoral students were able to familiarize themselves with the detailed structure and activities of the organization. Research practice helped to study fundamental and applied research in the field of geographic support for sustainable development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as the basis of social progress, economic growth and environmental security of the country.

The main goals of the Institute are:

• - study of modern patterns of evolution of the geographic environment and the dynamics of the natural resource potential of the geographic systems of the republic;
• - assessment and forecast of the resources and regime of the surface of the Republic, taking into account climate changes and economic activities;
• - identification of patterns of formation of dangerous natural phenomena, natural disasters and environmentally dangerous changes in the natural environment;
• - creation of a scientific, methodological and analytical base for managing the state of the geographic environment as the basis for national and regional programs of rational nature management, environmental protection
• - creation and improvement of means of geoinformation and cartographic support for the activities of research, planning and management organizations in the field of environmental management.

Institute of Geography and Water Security is one of the main employers in the geographical field.
